Many people—including Christians—have witchcraft objects in their house, and they don’t even know it. Obviously Christians shouldn’t have any witchcraft item in their home: runes, sigil pendants, tarot cards, ouija boards, smudge sticks, magic wands (even toy wands!), illegal drugs, pornography, ritual weaponry (especially Samurai swords), images (particularly idols like a buddha statue), any item of freemasonry (often masons have a ring or a masonic symbol on their car), or books on astrology, horoscopes, “holy” books of other religions (the book of mormon, dianetics, science and health with key to the scriptures, the quran, hindu books, and any watchtower materials[1], etc.), manga, wicca or witchcraft books, spell books, fortunetelling books, masonic books, or books about any other occultic practice.
I have consistently made an effort to keep witchcraft objects out of my house, but the defeated enemy finds ways to get them in despite my efforts. In my hospitality ministry I have hosted a few families of, um let’s say questionable commitment to Christ. One family, the Smiths, came to stay with me[2]. They were a mom, four teenage boys and a twentysomething daughter. Before coming they asked me if I wanted them to bring something from the US. I told them that evangelistic materials in English would be good, thinking of course that they would visit their local Christian bookstore. When they came, Mrs. Smith presented me with a thousand glossy, tri-folded pamphlets that she had written about why we should be worshiping on Saturday instead of Sunday. She had probably spent a few hundred dollars making these.
I looked at the pamphlet in my hand and the pile before me in horror as the boys started loudly wrestling and body-slamming each other in the bedroom. What could I say? These were useless[3]!
Then Mrs. Smith asked if they could extend their stay to five nights. Sorry, no! I wasn’t sure how I was going to suffer through three with this noisy bunch. Over the course of their stay, Mrs. Smith told me that her next-to-the-youngest son, Frank, had made a decision for Christ, adding that she hopes the others do, too. I was shocked: only one out of her five children was a Christian—and being mostly older teens and early twenties, it was less and less likely that they ever would.
Mrs. Smith told me proudly that she had homeschooled her all children all throughout school, and all were still living with her. I thought about her children a moment:
- Duke was a moody, reclusive nineteen-year-old who rarely looked up from his phone, tablet, or computer—whichever he was engaging with at the moment. She told me Duke is an aspiring filmmaker, thus the need to stay connected.
- Luke, the eighteen-year-old had a very obvious mean streak. It had probably been him doing the body-slamming.
- Frank was the seventeen-year-old, newly born-again Christian son. Frank was the only quiet one in the crew, and the only one I ever saw smile. He was Luke’s favorite target for beating or teasing—both of which he did constantly. I felt sorry for him, but glad that at least he has Jesus to get him through all this.
- Jessie, the youngest, at twelve, rarely left his mom’s side, constantly chirping for all of her attention like an ugly-cute baby bird. No doubt he stayed close to mom so that Luke wouldn’t start beating up on him.
- Sarah, the daughter, rarely left the relative quiet of her room, shared with her mom, and who could blame her? Any sanctuary from those rough boys would do!
They had found a church close to my house that met on Saturday morning, and invited me to go with them. I did, since it didn’t conflict with my own church’s Sunday service. They met in the basement of a hotel. The service was in Italian with English translation, and the sermon was on Mrs. Smith’s favorite subject: Saturday Sabbath. The pastor asserted that attending church on Sunday would prevent you from going to Heaven[4]. No wonder there were only about twenty people there—including the seven of us.
I suddenly began to have household accidents about a week after the Smith family left. First I fell and broke my left wrist (you can read about that in Summer in a Cast). And about two months later I slipped on the wet bathroom floor[5] and fell so hard on my left hip that I thought I had broken the socket as I had done almost 30 years ago. I fell hard because I didn’t put that freshly-mended left hand down to catch myself. After hearing about this second home injury, a prophetic friend told me that he had prayed and seen a spirit of destruction that had been assigned to me and was in my house.
Hearing this, I prayerfully went through the house, looking for any strange objects. What the Holy Spirit highlighted to me was a little device with a USB connector in the bedroom that the Smith boys had been in. I didn’t recognize this device, and wasn’t even sure what it was supposed to do. Immediately I thought of Duke, Mrs. Smith’s older son, who was always on his computer. He must have accidentally left it[6].
You must burn their idols in fire, and you must not covet the silver or gold that covers them. You must not take it or it will become a trap to you, for it is detestable to the Lord your God. Do not bring any detestable objects into your home, for then you will be destroyed, just like them. You must utterly detest such things, for they are set apart for destruction, (Deuteronomy 7:25-26, emphasis mine).
The Bible instructs us to burn idols[7], but of course, I couldn’t do that with a thing made of plastic and metal. So instead I did the next best thing: I immediately got it out of the house and threw it away in a public trash bin on another street.
When I returned to the house I got some olive oil and went through the whole house, anointing and praying at each door and window[8]. I haven’t had another accident since.
All that is to say that there are objects that evil spirits have become attached to. Any object used in worship of another god will have evil spirits attached to it. Why? Because the demons crave worship almost as much as they crave a body to inhabit. This could include such things as a buddha statue, for example. Even though the buddhists claim that they don’t worship buddha, the statue is found in virtually every buddhist household and temple.
A long time ago an acquaintance gave me a little statue of a man with the head of an elephant[9]. I thanked him for it, but felt no peace and got no sleep while it was in my house. I quickly realized that the statuette was the source of the problem. I couldn’t burn it, being carved from stone, so I took it out onto the driveway and smashed it to powder with a hammer. Then I put the powder into a garbage bag and took it to the town dump. This solved the problem immediately.
Other objects that can attract evil spirits are things like dreamcatchers, the blue glass mati eye symbol, or a gargoyle, for example. Anything that is supposed to chase away evil spirits can actually attract them. Some people have these things hanging from the rearview mirror of their car—a really bad idea in my opinion.
And I’m about to tell you something that is going to be very hard for some of you to accept: your electronic devices can also attract demons. Of course it all depends on how you use them and your attitude toward them. If you cannot go a whole day without television, computer, phone, or tablet, consider that you might be addicted. Addictions are almost always a sign of demonic activity. And what kind of things are you watching or doing with these devices? Pornography attracts demons, and watching programs about the occult also attracts demons.
Have you ever noticed how your spouse or children seem to zone-out in front of the television for hours? The television producers and manufacturers deliberately chose to use an electromagnetic broadcast frequency that lulls the viewer into an alpha state. The alpha state is that sort of dreamlike state when you’re still awake, but almost asleep—somewhere in between. The reason they do that is to make you more passive and receptive to advertising and worse: social engineering programming. Yes, there is an agenda to shape a one-world government, and in the process the luciferian elites want the vast majority of the rest of us dead—especially Christians. And they have been using television to shape society the way that they want things.
If you don’t believe me, think about television in the 60’s and 70’s. There was sexual innuendo, but it was subtle and went way over the heads of children. Little by little over the years they added gender-bending comedies like Three’s Company and Bosom Buddies. Neither of those shows had any gay character for more than a walk-on. Little by little they started showing more overt sexuality, implicit dialogue and situations, until some show outright perversion. And it used to be that adult programming was shown only after ten in the evening. Then they started showing those reruns earlier. Now primetime shows have people of all ages and genders having casual sexual relations. Where will it end?
With the reality shows we’re seeing the really mean side of Americans. In shows like Big Brother and Survivor the producers actually pit people against each other. Is there not enough hostility in our lives without watching this? And the Bachelor encourages women to prostitute themselves in hopes of marrying a rich man[10]. Dismissed is MTV’s version of the Bachelor for a younger crowd, and it looks even more heartless (as its name implies). While I was in the US a couple of years ago I had started watching The Taste, but even this cooking show was harsh and mean-spirited, with one or more contestants leaving at the end of each episode in tears. These reality shows remind me of what Jesus said:
Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold, (Matthew 24:12).
Perhaps I’m more sensitized to it because I don’t have a television and hardly watch any movies at all. But it seems like the sex is far more explicit (even pornographic) and the hostility is far more angry and violent. Anyway the whole point is that what you’re allowing into your living room through the television can also invite demons, and the passive alpha state induced by watching television makes you fair game. You or your children. I’m not saying that you have to get rid of the television, but be wiser about it, understand the dangers, and limit television time for children.
Also be aware that today’s smart TVs are capable of watching you—even when they are turned off. Talk about Big Brother watching you! How many of you have a smart TV in your bedroom? Do you want someone watching what you do in your bedroom?
If there is anything in your house that invites the defeated enemy or his minions in, you need to get it out. As the head of your house it’s your responsibility. If your child brought something inside the house that is inviting demons, ask the Lord how to deal with it. Often the best thing is to simply remove the item from the house, like I did with the electronic gizmo. Other times the thing must be destroyed, like with the statuette.
But Israel violated the instructions about the things set apart for the Lord. A man named Achan had stolen some of these dedicated things, so the Lord was very angry with the Israelites. Achan was the son of Carmi, a descendant of Zimri son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah. . . . “Israel has sinned and broken My covenant! They have stolen some of the things that I commanded must be set apart for Me. And they have not only stolen them but have lied about it and hidden the things among their own belongings. That is why the Israelites are running from their enemies in defeat. For now Israel itself has been set apart for destruction. I will not remain with you any longer unless you destroy the things among you that were set apart for destruction,” (Joshua 7:1 & 11-12, emphasis mine).
God’s Word has real power, but do not think that you can use the Bible as a talisman to generically bless your house. This is superstitious practice which has its roots in paganism. In God’s Kingdom, things absolutely don’t work that way.
The reason why cursed objects bring evil spirits into your house is because the defeated enemy and all his minions will push their way in anywhere where they find even the smallest crack in your defensive hedge. Any ongoing, unconfessed sin will create a crack in your defensive hedge[11]. Also any occultic practice will create a crack—even occultic practices of your ancestors that haven’t been confessed[12].
God is different. God will enter (a house, a situation, or a person) only when invited. So if you put Bibles in every room of your house, but never open them, they’re just another book that you’ll have to dust from time to time. It’s like having the world’s fastest car in your garage. Without the key to turn it on, you’ll go nowhere—it’s nothing but a very large and expensive paperweight.
The way to access the power of God’s Word is by reading it and hearing it—getting it inside of you. The power of God’s Word is inspiration—literally breath—the breath of God. When you read the Bible you are exchanging breath with God. He gives you His divine breath (Holy Spirit) in exchange for some of your breath as you read the Holy Scriptures. Again and again God invites us to come to Him and learn His secrets. He wants us to know His secrets. Check it out:
The secret [of the wise counsel] of the Lord is for those who fear Him, and He will let them know His covenant and reveal to them [through His word] its [deep, inner] meaning, (Psalm 25:14, AMP, emphasis mine).
I will speak using stories; I will tell secret things from long ago, (Psalm 78:2, NCV, emphasis mine).
For the perverse person is an abomination to the Lord, but His secret counsel is with the upright, (Proverbs 3:32, NKJV, emphasis mine).
I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness—secret riches. I will do this so you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name, (Isaiah 45:3, emphasis mine).
Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come, (Jeremiah 33:3, emphasis mine).
That night the secret was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven. Daniel answered and said: “Blessed be the Name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him, (Daniel 2:19-22, emphasis mine).
But you, Daniel, keep this prophecy a secret; seal up the book until the time of the end, when many will rush here and there, and knowledge will increase. . . . Go now, Daniel, for what I have said is kept secret and sealed until the time of the end, (Daniel 12:4, 9, emphasis mine).
Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets, (Amos 3:7, NKJV, emphasis mine).
You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others are not, (Matthew 13:11, emphasis mine[13]).
But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets, (1 Corinthians 2:10, emphasis mine).
He has made known to us His secret plan, which by His own will He designed beforehand in connection with the Messiah, (Ephesians 1:9, CJB, emphasis mine).
All this witchcraft magic crap is often called secret arts in the Bible. God’s secret counsel brings blessings with it, but the secret arts will take its practitioners to hell. I want to be privy to God’s secrets, don’t you? And as your relationship with God grows more and more intimate, you’ll find yourself in the secret place—living there:
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty, (Psalm 91:1, NKJV, emphasis mine).
O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the cliff, Let me see your face, Let me hear your voice; For your voice is sweet, And your face is lovely, (Song of Solomon, NKJV, emphasis mine).
As you cleanse your house of these witchcraft objects, you’ll find that it is much easier to pray. You’ll find that you have more desire to spend time in God’s Word.
Many who became believers confessed their sinful practices. A number of them who had been practicing sorcery brought their incantation books and burned them at a public bonfire. The value of the books was several million dollars. So the message about the Lord spread widely and had a powerful effect, (Acts 19:18-20, emphasis mine).
And you’ll be surprised at how much you’ve been hindered in both life and ministry. So get busy and clean out the witchcraft items from your house. God is good!
[1] Including their doctored version of the Bible.
[2] They found me through A Candle in the Window Christian Hospitality Network. Candle is a great organization, and I have met and hosted many lovely families through it. But as with churches, it is likely an organization that the defeated enemy has used to put his human minions into Christian homes. See also Holy Terrors.
[3] Let’s get people saved before we grind our favorite doctrinal axes.
[4] The church didn’t call itself seventh day adventist, but I suspect that’s what it is. The adventists are not actually Christian because of what they believe about the divinity of Jesus and how they exalt the adventist writings of Ellen G. White. They’re an unbiblical sect.
[5] Left that way by a guest—another hazard of hosting.
[6] Though it was no accident for the defeated enemy.
[7] Because of his computer obsession, this was an idol for Duke.
[8] The idea of anointing each door and window is to seal up the house so that no evil spirit can enter. However evil spirits can still enter a house thusly sealed if they are attached to a person who is invited into your house. Nevertheless, even if they can get in this way, they cannot stay unless the demonized person stays.
[9] A hindu god that I will not name.
[10] I admit, I’ve never even watched any of these reality shows, but the commercials are explicit enough to understand what they’re doing.
[11] In fact, habitual sin will harden your heart over time so that it ceases to feel sinful to you.
[12] I had to confess and repent for the masonic involvement of my ancestors, and for my ancestors’ involvement with Christian science, that is, the so-called church founded by Mary Baker Eddy, see Called to Rebuke. I had confessed and repented for their involvement years ago, and that is why God used me to rebuke this heresy.
